Many of you know that living together in a house in Jakarta can be a problem if you're not married. In some neighborhoods (KAMPUNG) you need to report to the area chief who lives where. In some Housing complexes noone cares, like they should.
Does anyone know which complexes are safe? We would like to live in a house, but are not married yet. I know in an apartment or in Bali it's no problem, but we lived in an apartment too long and would like to have a garden

Well if you live in Pondok indah, most the housing complexes are safe and noone cares.
It also depends what kind of relationship you have. You can also say that your gf is renting a room there and you share the place and are just friends, Just make something up. They are a bunch of hypocrites ayway, so it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the info. problem with houses is that you have to pay at least 1 year ahead. I'm a bit worried, if there are problems, the owner might think to solve it after the year is over anyway, we still live in a apartment, because the privacy is still higher i think.
